Obituary of Alice Rose

Alice Kendall Rose, 92, was called to her final home on Monday June 12, 2017 form Beechwood Manor, Uniontown PA. Alice was born in Brooklyn N. Y. on September 13, 1924. She was the third of eight children born to Joseph and Lily Kendall.
Alice was talented at handicrafts and enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading the Bible and listening to sacred music. Her gift for helping people, especially children, was well known and appreciated. As a young woman she worked for the U.S. Post Office; the U. S. Selective Service System helping to guide young men serving in the armed forces. Afterwards she taught preschool at St. Mark’s Lutheran Elementary, Brooklyn N.Y.
Alice dearly loved her church, St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Uniontown PA. If she wasn’t at home she could be found in church participating and helping to organize events, traveling with the Eucharistic team, talking with the young people and nurturing little ones. “Miss Alice” always had an ear, a shoulder and God’s word for anyone in need. She was well known as a “Prayer Warrior” and without hesitation joined in prayer for concerns close to home and abroad. The Fisherman Newsletter, Sunday School, Bible Study, Cursillo and the Elderhostel program was dear to her.
Her loving husband Aubrey S. Rose, preceded Alice in death. She is survived by her younger sister, Gwendolyn Kendall, her son, David, her daughters Irene and her husband, (Dr. Elwin Dickerson) and Sesheny Serquet and her husband (Saheri Ni Amen), 3 grandsons, Skott, Seth and Zahir, 1 granddaughter Sara, 6 great-granddaughters, Alexandra, Andrea, Symone, Cera, Natalie, and Angel; 3 great-grandsons, Kahylhl, Michael and Quinn; 1 great-great granddaughter Nova; cousins, nephews, nieces and host of beloved family and friends.
Everyone she has touched remembers her kindness. She had a special way of making individuals feel loved and supported. Alice will always be remembered for her compassion, empathy, generosity and great love for her “Heavenly Father”. She will be sincerely missed.
