Obituary of Ronald L Ashton

Mr. Ronald L. Ashton, Sr. passed peacefully in Port Charlotte, Florida on January 28, 2017 at the age of 79 with his wife by his side. Ron is survived by his loving wife Susan Ashton of North Port, Florida; son Ronald L. Ashton, Jr. and wife Mary Anne Ashton of North Port, Florida; daughter Rhonda Ashton Loeb and husband Peter F. Loeb of Fair Lawn, NJ; like a son, Brian Glisan, wife Karen Glisan and son Jack Glisan of Lavale, MD; granddaughter Heather S. Ashton, great grandchildren Braylon Ashton Martin and Brody Ashton Martin of North Port Florida; sister, Betty Conn of Uniontown, PA; brother, James Ashton and wife Mary Ashton; brother, Donald Ashton and wife Carol Ashton; brother, Richard Ashton all of Uniontown, PA.; and brother-in-law, Martin Marcus, Jr. and wife Naomi Marcus of McConnelsburg, PA. Cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many friends also survive Ron. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kathryn and Clarence Ashton, Sr., his brother Clarence "Sam" Ashton, his brother-in-law Clarence Conn, Sr., and sister-in-laws, Vivian Ashton, Kathy Ashton and Marlyn Ashton. Ron was born on August 17, 1937 in Uniontown, PA. He graduated from North Union High School in 1956. He married Susan Marcus, his high school sweetheart in the same year and they celebrated their 60th anniversary in August 2016. He and Sue welcomed two children into their home and encouraged them to always pursue their goals and follow their dreams. He was a dedicated employee of Wilson Foods and a Teamster member until retirement. Ron was an avid sports fan, and especially loved cheering for the Steelers, WVU and NASCAR. He traveled with his friends and family to many sporting events and was grateful to relive those memories throughout his life. He was a dog lover who loved his dogs and grand-dogs! He was an active member of the Valley Sportsmen Club in Oliver 3 until he fulfilled his lifelong dream of moving to Florida 7 years ago. A memorial has been scheduled at Dolfi’s Funeral Home for 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 18, 2017 with a service at 2:30 PM officiated by Frank Vargo, Jr. The burial will follow at Mt. Macrina Manor in Uniontown, PA.
