Obituary of Alexander M Mounayar Sr.

Alexander Mitri Mounayar, 89, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019 at home. A lifelong resident of Uniontown, born to Mitri Alexander Mounayar & Lillian Rosell-Veach. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sons, Alexander Mitri Jr. & Mark Allen; sisters, Gertrude Grimm & Muriel Blake; brother, Charles Veach; brother-in-laws; Alex (Ak) & Joseph Klink. Alex is survived by daughters, Karen Widmeyer & Denise Mounayar; grandchildren, Aaron Widmeyer; Mitri, Rachel, Christine, Rita & Mark Mounayar; Joyce Bendishaw; Lillian Guy; Emily & Benjamin Smiley; Marie Klink Mounayar, wife of 35 years; 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Alex graduated Uniontown High School, class of 1948. He joined the army during the Korean war, then worked as a bookbinder for 13 years at the Fayette County Courthouse. Alex became a photographer & later opened Al’s Photo Store in Fayette Plaza, then at Laurel Mall. Always an avid reader, he enjoyed sports, traveling, classic movies and crossword puzzles. But his greatest love was for his family & friends and having a good conversation with them. At Alex’s request, his services were private, under the direction of Dolfi Funeral Home, Uniontown, PA. There will be a celebration of life memorial honoring Alex announced at a later date.
